Protect Local Community Cats

Success!

Because of your efforts, this bill was killed without even being brought up for a hearing or consideration. GREAT JOB!

Urge your delegate to vote NO on House Bill 221

Every community is unique; what works for one, may not work for others. That's why Virginia House Bill 221 is bad for community cat management.

Protect community cats by asking Virginia legislators to vote NO on HB 221.

House Bill 221 leaves decision-making about animal welfare to state bureaucrats, which takes away local authority and sets a dangerous precedent.

This bill requires the state Department of Agriculture to regulate community cat management, ignoring the fact that many communities already have humane, successful programming for free-roaming cats. It also creates the potential for increasing costs to local communities — without providing any funding.

We must continue to allow communities to humanely manage community cat populations in a way that respects their unique needs and resources.
