The Puppy Bowl is undoubtedly the cutest alternative television-watching opportunity on Super Bowl Sunday, and this year it was even better with a week of adoption promotions.
Adoption fees were waived at all Best Friends locations, and more than 140 Best Friends Network Partners across the country participated as well. While millions watched adorable puppies romping on screen, the real impact of Puppy Bowl XX was the call to head to a shelter or rescue group to adopt a pet in need of a home.
It’s no surprise that puppies were stars of the show. But from Best Friends locations alone, more than 220 cats and kittens were adopted as well. In the end, a total of 3,200 pets went home from Best Friends and our partners combined.
Here are photos of just a few of the pets adopted during the promotion, all destined to become MVPs in their new homes.

Let's make every shelter and every community no-kill by 2025
Our goal at Best Friends is to support all animal shelters in the U.S. in reaching no-kill by 2025. No-kill means saving every dog and cat in a shelter who can be saved, accounting for community safety and good quality of life for pets.
Shelter staff can’t do it alone. Saving animals in shelters is everyone’s responsibility, and it takes support and participation from the community. No-kill is possible when we work together thoughtfully, honestly, and collaboratively.
